Freezer Beef Guide
How Purchasing Our Freezer Beef Works
We sell our beef by the pound, based on the hanging weight after the animal has been harvested. We take the animal to the processor and provide you with their contact information. You will call the processor to explain how you want your beef cut and packaged. They can walk you through all processing options and provide a cut sheet if needed.
Once your meat is fully processed, the processor will contact you for pickup. You will pay the processor directly at that time. After you pick up your meat, we will email you an invoice for the beef itself. Payment is due within two weeks of receiving that invoice. Please note: payments made with PayPal or credit card will include the processing service charge.
What “Hanging Weight” Means
Hanging weight refers to the weight of the beef after the entrails and hide have been removed. Only the bones and meat remain, and this is what literally hangs on the rail in the cooler. Beef typically hangs for about one week before the processor begins cutting.
Pricing
The current price is $3.90 per pound based on hanging weight. Our Angus cattle generally finish between 1100–1200 lbs live weight.
